Pushkar Mela in Rajasthan


Intriguing mix of culture and distinguished tradition at Rajasthan makes a perfect introduction of its royal heritage. This Indian state well known for its customary practises, is also famous for its festivities throughout the year. As per the Hindu mythology, Pushkar Mela is celebrated from Kartik ekadashi to Kartika Poornima where full moon day is the special one. The gala event is the center of attraction for tourists as well as locales throughout as it showcases the largest trading of camels and livestocks. It's an annual five-day camel fair where men are found flaunting their long moustaches and women are all in their dazzling attires. The fest also upholds many competition namely 'matka phod', 'long moustache' and 'bridal competition', which are highlights of this festivity. It's a grand occasion for many camel traders and racers where over 25,000 camels are traded each year. In recent years this event has impressed many admirers around the globe and drove many tourists crazy in its show.
