Famous Buddhist Monasteries of Bhutan


Being a spiritual state Bhutan is often visited to enlightened our soul. Encompassing around hundreds of big and small buddhist monasteries, Bhutan becomes an abode for those who want to have an transcendental experience. Bhutan is amongst the remaining Mahayana Buddhist nation of the world and invites travellers from all across the world to explore its fascinating rich pilgrimage spots. Countless Stupas, Monasteries, Temples makes Bhutan an awe inspiring pilgrimage destinations of the world.




Takstang Monastery
This is one of the most talked about monastery of the world. Nestled 3000 feet above the valley, Takstang Monasteries is also known as the Tiger Nest Monastery. Constructed in the year 1692, Takstang Monasteries itself comprises of seven temples filled with devotees and visitors.



Punakha Monastery
Completed in the year 1638, the Punakha Monasteries resides in the old capital of the country- Punakha. It is the second largest monasteries of the world. The monastery nestled itself at the confluence of two famous rivers - Pho Chhu and the second is Mo Chhu. 

 

Tango Monastery
Another famous Buddhist Monastery, Tango Monastery is located 14 kms away from Thimpu Bhutan.Founded in 13th century, Tango Monasteries founded by Lama Gyalwa Lhanampa. It belongs to the Drukpa Kagyu School of Buddhism in Bhutan.
